Truly I did consider your point about getting the Nautilus because of the extra complication that makes it indeed a totally different watch and  at a different price point.

One think I dislike a bit is the need to switch strap in order to use it in the water. I am also gravitating toward the elipse as it is a bit more unique and I will probably wear it more. Obviously the Nautilus 5712G-001 is a more "important" piece and not that common either. I agree that collectors taste varies and shouldn't be a benchmark for such an individual purchase. I do like both but, for example, I usually wear  and buy only watches without complications as I find the clean dial really ideal for my taste.  So the odds are on the 3738/100G-012 at the moment smile

I have also considered the 5124G-001 that is very special but not so sure about the manual winding (I do have some other manual winding watches but I would prefer the automatic in this occasion!)

Will certainly post and update with more (better?) pictures of the one I will buy in the next few days.
