got the Patek 3738/100G-012 golden ellipse white gold - mini review

thanks for posting your photos and wise comments ! Thanks to dr.kol for the photos and count de monet for the sound advice - and to everyone that confirmed how personal buying such a watch is !
I went to sleep dreaming and thinking about the ellipse and that was a bit of a sign that I should go with it.
Today I have bought Patek 3738/100G-012 and as requested I am posting some photos (one also in comparison with the 5127G that I still love very much). This watch fits very much into my own desire of a classy yet different watch that can stand out without being flashy. I like the dial / strap combination (even if the AD and even the boutique seemed to prefer a darker brown or black. I feel that the light brown is a great touch) and the shape / light feeling vs. a more sporty model like the Nautilus.
I don't really care about resell value as I have never sold any watch and I am even thinking to add an engraving on the back to remind me of the occasion 
The 5127 has a more classic look and the date is a nice add-on. Both are very nice yet different. As rightly pointed out by everyone the ellipse has a very unique design. Perhaps a case of love it or hate it.
I also think that the various colors/metal combination might make a different impact e.g. someone might prefer the traditional blue dial to the new grey one like mine has.
I have tried to take several wrist photos to show the difference of the dial colour with natural and artificial light.

Now the bad news: if you decide to buy 5712 later, also matching cuff links are available and those are more expensive than the ones for Golden Ellipse. Anyhow, a Patek with matching cuff links is a very cool combination. Best, Kari

I am not sure I will go with the calatrava ones perhaps they look as a bit too much for me. I had my shirts mostly done with regular buttons so perhaps I will just take the ellipse ones and see but never say never :) They should have more stock ..at least...
I like the round Calatrava cuff links
because I have in all of my leather strap Pateks the folding clasp with Calatrava Cross. Think how cheap it is: just buy a pair of YG, RG, and WG Calatrava cross cuff links and you can have an unlimited amount of alligator strapped Patek Philippe watches!...

..forgot to mention that I agree entirely on the wrist which was a main consideration for me (and weight too. The Calatrava 5127 is around 76 gr with strap and the ellipse 55 or so with strap). I was wondering if I could pick your experience to understand...
I would say that Golden Ellipse is like any
35-36 mm dress watch. It feels on the wrist like my 5120J. The watch does not feel too small because it's so slim and well balanced. Best, Kari

wondering about the Golden Ellipse PP or Geneva Seal
For the 5127 It was easier to spot that it has the new PP seal I am curious to know if the ellipse I bought has the PP or the geneva seal. Nothing mentioned on the certificate of origin so I guess the only way to know would be to open it ? :)
It should have the PP seal ... should :-) ...
NOT to worry you as this little detail is just "academic" and I am more fond of the Geneva seal anyway, it is still possible that it has got the Geneva seal. BUT I did not see a Geneva seal for a long time on a new Patek movement. Best Moritz

On the gold bracelet but a customer requested it on the leather strap model so they can't be many around, you made a fine choice with your ellipse you have to buy a watch because you like it as its a personal item.
