Patek 3738/100G-012 white gold Golden Ellipse vs Calatrava 5127 vs Nautilus 5712G-001
My first and so far only Patek is the Calatrava 5127G which I found ideal because of the size and understatement. I am using this everyday and I think it is truly gorgeous. I was lucky to find one in store just before Christmas and have been very happy with it. Apparently it is among the most sought after models (5127 not just the G) and is virtually sold out all over here.
Recently I visited the Patek Boutique again as I am considering buying for my birthday the 3738/100G-012 white gold Golden Ellipse that, as far as I can see, is not very popular in the various Patek forums 
So I am enclosing some photos (sorry for the quality) of both the 3738/100G-012 and the Nautilus 5712G-001 that is among the few Nautilus available in store. I do like white gold but after another wrist test today apparently the 5712G-001 might be too big (and somehow heavy) on my wrist. I have other heavier watches in my collections and, from my experience, I end up wearing them very little this is why I am now much more inclined toward the Golden Ellipse

Thanks in advance for your comments ! I am also curious on the little interest / reviews of the Golden Ellipse. All I can find is some pretty old versions with the solid gold bracelet etc. but very little on the new references.

Now the bad news: if you decide to buy 5712 later, also matching cuff links are available and those are more expensive than the ones for Golden Ellipse. Anyhow, a Patek with matching cuff links is a very cool combination. Best, Kari

I am not sure I will go with the calatrava ones perhaps they look as a bit too much for me. I had my shirts mostly done with regular buttons so perhaps I will just take the ellipse ones and see but never say never :) They should have more stock ..at least...
I like the round Calatrava cuff links
because I have in all of my leather strap Pateks the folding clasp with Calatrava Cross. Think how cheap it is: just buy a pair of YG, RG, and WG Calatrava cross cuff links and you can have an unlimited amount of alligator strapped Patek Philippe watches!...

..forgot to mention that I agree entirely on the wrist which was a main consideration for me (and weight too. The Calatrava 5127 is around 76 gr with strap and the ellipse 55 or so with strap). I was wondering if I could pick your experience to understand...
I would say that Golden Ellipse is like any
35-36 mm dress watch. It feels on the wrist like my 5120J. The watch does not feel too small because it's so slim and well balanced. Best, Kari

wondering about the Golden Ellipse PP or Geneva Seal
For the 5127 It was easier to spot that it has the new PP seal I am curious to know if the ellipse I bought has the PP or the geneva seal. Nothing mentioned on the certificate of origin so I guess the only way to know would be to open it ? :)
It should have the PP seal ... should :-) ...
NOT to worry you as this little detail is just "academic" and I am more fond of the Geneva seal anyway, it is still possible that it has got the Geneva seal. BUT I did not see a Geneva seal for a long time on a new Patek movement. Best Moritz

On the gold bracelet but a customer requested it on the leather strap model so they can't be many around, you made a fine choice with your ellipse you have to buy a watch because you like it as its a personal item.
