Patek Philippe

Wrong hands

My 3970 is a second series piece and the proper hands for that model are leaf hands which were on the watch when sent in, got it back with straight pointed hands found on third series pieces. They were surprised, maybe even stunned, at the mistake but corrected it and now everything is fine.
When things are backed up as they have been for the past several years, 7000 pieces serviced last year by what, 16-20 watchmakers at HSWA. The load is massive and requires each watchmaker to average servicing some 350+ pieces per year. It is easy to understand how small details can be missed along the way. Of course, none of us expect any watch serviced to be less than perfect, but the reality of the circumstances are just too overwhelming to allow that to be the case. I can only imagine the amount of stress and pressure this places on everyone in service who are trying to do the best they can.
