Patek Philippe

For Patek,

I believe the heightened level of interest began to show itself at the Habsburg Feldman 150th anniversary sale and increased thereafter. I don't for a minute think they planned for the success, I doubt if anyone could, but the signs were everywhere.
Record prices at auctions which were constantly making headlines, one in particular was when Patek bought the Packard watch. I was in New York at the office when ABC, NBC, and CBS were filming their reports and Hank Edleman got the watch for me to see, and believe me, impressive doesn't really accurately describe the watch or the news making events that follwed. Suddenly, Patek was thrust into a worldwide limelight and the next 25 years saw them gain in popularity with each passing year. Again, it didn't happen overnight and plans had to be made to increase production which then, begs the question about service.
Please understand I am still very passionate about the brand and have been for more than 30 years and it bothers me to hear some of the experiences some folks have had, myself included, but I know the people at HSWA and have a little more understanding than most others. Given that, I was never afraid to speak up when I saw where improvements could be made, ie. straps, presentation boxes, water resistance issues, etc., and over the years, those improvements came to pass, not that I could claim credit for it as I feel certain others voiced similar concerns. It is this forum which allows another voice, the consumer's, to be heard. And, if noticed can do nothing but be of some good going forward for the brand and their clients.
I know we have kicked this dog to death so I will end here.
Mark, thank you for allowing the dialogue to be heard and putting up with me.
Best,
Whit
