I am considering to acquire a 5940G (Perpetual Calendar), however I am worried about the size 37mm x 44.8mm (cushion shaped). I have a 17 centimeter circumference wrist. Does anyone have a somewhat similar wrist size with a photo of this watch on their wr...  

Quoting you, "17" wrist" could be interpreted in many ways, in the USA, 17" is interpreted as 17 inches (which would be an unusually large wrist). There are some countries that don't use centimeters nor inches. I suggest you should write how many centimet...

It's difficult to try it on now during COVID 19 and these watches are discontinued, so it may not be easy to obtain one to try. But try it on. And consider a 5140 (round case, same movement).

...but because of the case shape a totally different watch. I love the 3940 but the 5140 never did much for me. And speaking of discontinued, I've seen some new versions that have been gathering dust at my AD for a while now...so maybe a good time to buy?...

to the Forum! There are many knowledgeable people here and there is much to learn. My experience with the 240 movement is excellent. I wore a 3940 for over ten years as my daily watch and it served me perfectly. My feeling is that you would not be disappo... 

Just got a late series 2 3940. Currently has solid back but came with the crystal back as well. Looks like it should just pop off using the tab but I don’t want to do anything that would damage the watch. Is switching backs as simple as it looks? Thanks f... 

The hands are okay. I much prefer the Breguet style hands of the older models. There is a little ridge around the dial on the bezel which accumulates a lot of grime and dirt which is not easy to clean. If you want this type watch I would recommend the 504... 

...especially the 5040s with the Breguet numerals. So, one less for me (I've been looking at the 5040 forever...) : )

Personally I'm not a fan of the standard 5040, but the one with Breguet numerals and hands is sublime.

Have you consider Lange Perpetual Calendar

Yes I did consider the Langematik, however for some reason fell for classiness and unique form factor of this piece.

I own a 5940G and my wrist is 16.3cm. The watch is actually a 37mm watch and the 44mm quoted size as you know includes the lugs. I have owned the watch for 2 years and have just accepted a deposit on it from a fellow purist. Please don't get me wrong - it...  

I have barely worn my 5940G. I am not sure why but it does get less wrist time than all my other watches. And you are right - he is one lucky purist but I know him well

A very elegant watch especially with the raised Breguet numerals but I have noticed one thing. Perpetual calendars like the 3940,5140 and 5940 are not so legible when wearing them. Yes one can tell the time at first glance but it is more challenging to vi... 

Although cushion shape is not as popular as the traditional round cases, this selection is a very personal choice. The movement is definitely very good and THIN ! Let us know your decision and look forward to your wrist shots !

Unless you don't like the cushion shape case, you should go for it. It wears perfectly on my 7inch wrist, hence should fit your 6.6 inch wrist too. Besides, just like the famous "TV" shaped Patek PCC, reference 5020 reference, It may not be a sought after...
