While i understand the logic behind the Cubitus…

…and I applaud Patek for pushing innovation and trying to widen its target demographs, it’s not my cup of tea personally.
I might have a different opinion if my wrist size had more real estate to support it, however.
But the other thing that bugs me about the Cubitus is that it’s too close to the Nautilus design.
If we look at AP, their Code 11.59 was also very divisive when it first came out but it was different. Some may argue not in a good way but it didn’t run the risk of cannibalizing its own line of watches.
Apple during the Steve Jobs era was epic for game-changing decisions. Anyone remember when Apple took out the floppy drive on their computers and everyone had a meltdown?? And when they took out the headphone jack and people were hyper ventilating that Apple had lost it? Fast forward to today. While I don’t think Apple single handedly changed the industry, they had the vision to see the future of the industry and play a part in being the catalyst to this change.
Overall, i think all brands need some sort of innovation to move forward. While there will always be those who grumble about any changes to their beloved designs - “hey, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!!” - I recognise that companies must make waves to remain relevant in the future when the younger generation takes over and generations after that.
