But the question is really "Classic" vs "Icon".

If you think "Classic" then the Calatrava works well but maybe Bentley would be a better example than the 911.

I actually think "Icon" is a better word to describe the 911 and then the Nautilus and the Royal Oak maybe better examples of how you evolve an iconic design, keeping it fresh and relevant. The Calatrava can work but there's a far greater diversity between models today and looking back over time than with the Nautilus. I look at some Calatrava's and can't see the relationship between some of them. With the Nautilus and Royal Oak that visual relationship is clear and without doubt. I also think the same applies to the 911. You could never mistake any 911 for any other model. which is why I think "Icon" works better than "Classic"
