Nice post Jerome. It reminded me of a similar conversation I had very recently with a friend of mine comparing Porsche and Rolex rather than Patek. It began with a conversation about his Aston Martin which he rated as very good but not quite perfected. On the other hand Porsche has been around for much longer and the company basically has spent the last half century perfecting a very small number of models. Further the cars are expensive enough but not overly so - one generally feels they are well priced while being accessible. This to me called out the Rolex brand - reasonably priced, common but still exclusive, accessible but still vintage collectible. It seems that since your arguments are logical, perhaps there are as you point out, a number of such analogies to make. In any case, nice food for thought. All the best.

However, I would disagree.... I would associate PP more with Mercedes than Porsche..... First Porsche is owned by VW, PP is owned by PP.... Mercedes has a wide range of cars, starting from the c class coupe all the way to AMG, to SLR to Formula 1...... PP...
