I enjoyed Patek's 2018 novelties even though we did not see a major technical introduction like the 5650G last year.
Okay, we have to talk about the 7150R a little bit more. I think it's place in the Patek catalogue is under appreciated because it is a women's watch. Take away the diamonds set in the bezel and it's a really cool design. It's 38mm also. Just imagine if the bezel was not diamond-set, how many guys would order this watch. Yes, it's sort of a mishmash of other Patek well-loved design cues but for me it works together. It would be fascinating to see if Patek revisits this dial & case design in the future on a targeted men's version.
On the 5968A, why did Patek decide once again not to frame the date window with a thin white gold frame to match with the white gold hour markers and the hands? I know with Patek's attention of details that it would have been a decision-point. Yes, the other standard Aquanaut models do not have a frame on the date window, but this is a new higher complication now with chronograph so I think it deserves to be made even more special. If you see the 5711 white dial, it has a date window that has a frame that matches with the hands and hour markers. I have a huge pet peeve about these little things when you are paying such a high premium.
