I understand your question.
Regarding vintage watches they try to keep as many original pieces as possible. I can't imagine replacing a vintage case (they certainly would not have the spare case anyway).
Regarding new watches I can ask if you really want to know but the cost would certainly be prohibitive too! In fact if a case is so severely hurted that you can't keep it, I wonder what would be to be saved inside?

I noted something that seemed to be an anomaly, though: did they really try to tell you that watch size is dictated by movement size? If so, they seem to be giving themselves quite a lot of leeway with some of the new models.
