Take care....
So some person tried to steal my 5968A off my wrist a couple of days ago when I was out with my wife. It was after dinner and we were always in busy places and walking around also with lots of camera footage. He must have followed us for probably half an hour and took the first chance when no other people and cameras were around in an area where you would never have imagined to be attacked. When his hand touched my left arm I was immediately aware about the situation and took a firm grip on the case. Then we wrestled for about 10 seconds on the ground but I was obviously too strong for him although he was clutching the bracelet with both hands. By the force of both of us the clasp went off and I had the case still in my grip and he departed as in the same moment also a guy came to us because my wife was screaming for help.
The police will screen the camera footage and will probably also see him there (wearing a base cap) but that won't really help I guess to find him.
The watch is undamaged as I held it firm and I even found the clasp. Will I learn something from this event? Well, I never wear stuff like golden Rolex etc in public but with a 5968A in my town I thought that this is a safe choice. There are so many watches with orange rubber straps and some dark dial that I thought until now no one will recognize it (different to Paris, London, Rome etc) - obviously these guys are well trained everywhere and I have to rethink my wearing behavior... I will surely not let this event spoil my fun in collecting AND wearing but from now on I will think more than twice.
Enjoy your Sunday, take care wherever you are and be alert all the time!
