I think the thing fo me is that I find modern Patek Philippe amongst the most interesting of any manufacturer now. Across the range there are some truly inspired and interesting watches. So yes, I do get that. But at the same time, across history Patek has made some pieces that totally eclipse what is being offered right now....not in terms of technology, but in terms of other factors. I can see that i will never be able to satisfy all those niches of excellence that exist, but occasionally dipping into one or other of the vintage treasure is both dangerous and exciting, but also rewarding in a way that the modern variants cannot compete. Does that make sense?
