All Langes have an engraved balance cock forged in the fires of Mount Saxonia by ancient german dwarves with tiny mithril tools. Patek's movement finishing looks the same as Jaeger Lecoultre, a fine brand that is considered a "value" brand in the watch world.
One does not have to be a horologist to appreciate the superior craftsmanship of Lange compared to Patek. In fact, one does not even need a loupe, Lange's superiority is perfectly visible to the naked eye.
Where Patek trumphs Lange is its great marketing slogan, "You never really own a Patek....." and highly visible advertising on the back covers of magazines read by ambitious middle class economic and social climbers like the economist, monocle, robb report, etc. i.e. the target demographic for Patek's entry level or "every day" offerings.

A nautilus has become my daily wearer but out of then my 5712 seems to be most comfortable and versatile.
