the 5070 and 5970 were an exception, not the rule
The 5070 probably because of several reasons
- a big size for a Patek an the market demands bigger watches. Not always 48 mm but 42 is a perfect size for everybody. Those who prefer smaller will say the 5070 is big but just accepatable, those who prefer big pieces will say the same not big but acceptable.
- It was so long ago Patek offered a classic chrono
- it's just a gorgeous piece
- that Lemania movement was very well finished and pretty rare
but go bacj to 1997, befaore these 2 ... I was just readin a German magazine ' Uhren' and saw some watches for sale. The 3970 its listprice was 125.000 DEM ( 56K euro) , you found them second hand for 85.000 DEM ( 38K euro), so a 30 till 35 discount .... just like the 5270 today.
Almost EVERY Patek drops 30 till 35 %, like said .... the 5070 and 5970 were an exception
2,917 Patek Philippe listings are live on the eBay market and 1722 collector listings on the WatchProSite marketplace.
