I guess
the introduction of the 5131P at Basel this year has prompted Patek to just focus on this watch instead of the 5131R and the P simultaneously. I cannot imagine the waiting list for the P which has a beautiful enamel dial but is arguably pretty heavy with the platinum bracelet. A watch to me has to be wearable above all else. Of course, one might go down the after market leather strap route but I like to keep things original. Patek has a habit of discontinuing watches when one least expects it and I was fortunate to get hold of the last 5940G from the factory as production was discontinued after two years.
