I find that type of collecting takes the joy out

Yes, maybe 3% of mclaren f1 owners take their cars out. But as prices go up, they increasingly become stored away in a garage as trinkets to show friends. That is fine but not how I view these things. A friend just got a slr gullwing, it sits nicely on the garage. It has been out a few times, but far less than his other pagoda and various SLs because value. I don't want to buy watches to keep stickers on and preserve. For me they are to wear. We also are talking about a regular steel watch not piece unique or high complexity as mclaren F1 or Pagani, etc. This is just my way of thinking. Maybe watches is moving to more of a Monterey type collector which is fine. Many people I know spend a lot of time buying things as value or to speculate and to make money on. They don't seem to enjoy the actual 'objects' as much but their store and appreciation of value. Maybe that is a way to appreciate watches.
