I would say - those models look way better in pictures than in real life. So we are talking about hype rather than watchmaking, but hopefully they would take advantage of the cash inflows to do more interesting stuff down the line.

I was thinking of getting one last year, went to try it on and decided against it.

Isn’t this a press release? Czapek just wants to advertise the fact that their watches are selling well. And there’s a segment of the watch buyer population who buys on hype. Myself included sometimes. I’m not immune. Total human being here. That being said Czapek does make some nice watches! But then again, this latest Czapek sports watch seems to be more of a following a trend and capitalizing on that trend rather than a pioneering design in its own right. But opinions can differ there as well.

Honestly only few collectors were, and currently are, interested in their classic guillochè models.
The Antarctique is indeed a nice sporty watch with a jaw dropping movement, but it follows the current trend.
Likely they don't want to become a single-reference company, that's the reason of this slow down

I concur with your analysis. And yes. Those movements are amazing! They really speak to me! The bracelet of this one, not my cup of tea.

But I really don't understand the craze around it.  It looks like any other steel sports watch.  The movement is interesting, that I will concur with.  But there are design features of this watch which are flawed, in my opinion, like the way the endlinks of the bracelet aren't flush with the case when you wear it on the wrist.  Small things like that really detract from the overall appeal, in my opinion.

It’s that simple. Would we rather all just have them continue taking orders and not be able to fulfill them? Doing so would compromise quality and thus be more of detriment to the brand than just saying we are sorry we can’t take any more orders at this time. At least they were allowing anyone to place an order. Not like we are seeing from AP and PP which is: oh you want a watch from us? Good luck, but we’ll sell you something you don’t want as the desirable prices are reserved for our top clients. Not necessarily a shortage of them other than the one they created. Personally I think it’s a good looking watch with a great looking movement. And I am looking forward to getting mine at the end of the year.

Moonswatch, Mad1, I think we are seeing things change quickly and brands are finding new, more equitable / less distasteful ways of dealing with limited supply in a way that doesn't have to alienate future customers.

I've owned the AP jumbo 4 times, twice in the blue dial, once in white and once in grey. I've also have owned the AP jumbo perpetual skeleton. Do I think they are nice watches (absolutely). Do I think they are worth the prices they are currently commanding? Absolutely not!

Anyway, no regrets, good memories

I sold them all probably about 6 years ago. If my memory serves me correctly sold that Jumbo's for about ~$15k each and the AP Jumbo perp skeleton in ss for $42k. I remember when the AP perp skeleton in PT would sit all day for months if not years at $80K. It's human nature to want what you no longer can have. I don't mind that Czapek, Gronefeld, MB&F and others have had to close there books to catch up and keep quality high. There's no games there, they simply need to catch up before they can take orders again. And anyone and everyone can place their orders, not the selected few

Very few reviews online, not read anything about inferior quality. These new watches, very few in the wild as they are still making them, apparently one per day. One person makes each watch from start to finish. So you can understand that they have stopped taking orders due to the overwhelming demand. There are not many times that I have purchased a watch without seeing it, so yes, I am taking a gamble. Until someone has one on their wrist and can make first hand judgement, they should reserve their negative opinions, especially about quality. Appearance, yes, may not appeal to everyone. I committed because of appearance and that beautiful movement.
