Joe, we should chat about this next time as I really don't understand why it was such a mistake for VC.
My bet would be Hodinkee, that watch and their total coverage of VC, was a net positive for VC. I'd guess there are a large number of watch guys in NYC alone that would never have stepped inside of the VC Boutique or purchased a VC without Hodinkee. I could be really wrong about this of course, but my gut says "good deal" for VC.
Looks like I'll be back for the Oct meetup, I just need to work on getting the hall pass now!

I can relate to Ben's story of his Grandpa etc, it's similar for me and I'm sure many others. But I find it a missed opportunity to do something really good. If you are going to do a limited Speedy it didn't need to be this 'Homer - ga' watch.

Unattractive to my eye. No appeal whatsoever. Surprised, as I otherwise enjoy Hodinkee.
I have less than zero interest buying any HODINKEE branded piece.
In fact, it sort of sours me on the brands that do it, like Vacheron. HODINKEE is not Tiffany’s for godssake.

I think it's hard these days to sell the same thing repeatedly. The LEs historically have offered a little variation which may appeal to the next new customer.

IMHO peedmaster is such a perfect and strong design. It almost always looking good no matter how Omega modify it. This one is just a bit too colourful. Nonetheless the way they keep making limited edition is dillutive to the value.
