i think i can Jeff....
i think i can Jeff.
i have several books on speedmasters including
an excellent one from Japan. i've also read all the sites i can find and there
is no picture anywhere of an OEM Speedmaster with a lollipop hand. the 2915 has
a non lumed thin needle pointer, the 2998-4 has a thin white needle point hand
and the 2998-6 has a small diamond pointer, the 105.003 has a larger diamond
pointer and pointed rear end and from then on they have the same, but with flat
rear end.
i have the same range of books about seamasters
and surprisingly there is a pic of an sm300 with a lollipop hand and
big arrow hour and minute hands. the problem is that its written in Japanese so
i dont know if the pic is there as it was a factory issue or to show what others
have done with non OEM parts. it has no ref number underneath it so it could be
a 2913 or a 165.014.
i think thats a pretty comprehensive development
:)
none of the Speedy MK's have a lollipop so i
dont really know where it originated from or how it appeared on a speedy. i
suspect it came from Rolex as you've said and was changed just for the look of
things.
so i have to take back my objection to your
SM300 on the basis that i've seen a pic of one, but the speedies are
wrong.
best
