Hey Doc, You Can Vote My Proxy, But...

... you're gonna have to add timekeepers like Jeff Porcaro and Simon Phillips to that list. Sure, Bonham was one of the very best, but if John was contacted during a seance, even he would admit to stealing from Bernard Purdie.
I recently read an article where the columnist stated that Quest Love (The Roots) is one of the top ten drummers on the planet. Clearly that columnist is no authority on drumming whatsoever; particularly since there was no mention of Porcaro, Phillips or Purdie on the guy's list - and so, no credibility.
As a drummer, if I was to just name the top ten living drummers off the top of my head, it would go something like this (not necessarily in any kind of order of skill):
Steve Gadd
Vinnie Colaiuta
Dave Weckl
Terry Bozio
Prairie Prince
Simon Phillips
Keith Carlock
Dennis Chambers
Manu Katche
Mike Bram
So you see, Quest Love doesn't even make the cut. Sure, he's a good drummer, but one of the "top ten drummers" in the world? Me thinks not.
That said, I love the fact you know drummers. Of course, we are also timekeepers, so I guess it makes sense.
best, my friend,
