I have nothing against Panerai,
I just can't stand that what I consider to be an ugly-ass crown guard. Remove that and for me it would be perfect.
I admit that I’ve developed more of a liking for Radiomirs over the years...
but I still think the crown guard is cool and defining.
Absolutely, I totally appreciate it as that...
and also aesthetically. But this particular dial in a 1940 case would have been more intriguing overall IMHO...but it wouldn’t have the destro feature that I find equally intriguing.
They might have considered...
a DLC or composite case, it would have had a nice...cappuccino...effect. Just go on enjoying it too much!!!
Looks like a guy was putting texture on his ceiling and sprayed his watch instead.
Note to self. Never take the crystal off your watch when painting.

and it’s very true! Ever since then, when looking at it closely and noticing the texture and monotone color, I can only see it as how you describe. It’s the uniqueness of the dial that keeps me intrigued
