If you read me, you know that the date is not my favourite detail in a Watch. Most of the time, it ruins the dial, creates a weird assymetry, at least according to my tastes. But, in some cases, it can be a nice detail. The Rieussec Chronograph is one of ...

100% agree with you. The date on a dial of any time only watch is in my opinion always out of place and without meaning. It especially ruins chronographs for me. IMO the date only makes sense on a triple date or perpetual / annual calendar (more so the la... 

It doesn't most often ruin the dial ( which is my main concern ), but it seems added to the dial. While, in this case, it is part of the dial; doesn't ruin anything, at the contrary, it enhances the beauty of the Watch, its coherence. A revelation for me.... 

I understand that the date window often destroys the aesthetics of the dial. IMHO, one of the most beautiful watch designs which fell to this trap was the Urban Jurgensen Perpetual. The way that the windows eat into the numerals...just can't get over it. ...

I love the date and gmt version but couldn't stand the thickness if the watch due to the rotor. I guess Mont Blanc feel is necessary to make it as an automatic. The proportion of the manual version is perfect but I lost the date windows and the gmt functi...

I do read you, and I know how you feel about the date. And I can think of a good handful of watches I would like better if they omitted the date. But for many of us, the date function is a good inclusion, so they key is doing it discreetly or perhaps bett...

I love dates. In fact, I need dates. But the problem that commonly arises is the same problem you project Nico. The date looks ugly. And on certain watches, for instance the Patek Philippe 5070, all of the Montblanc Villerets, and some really classic piec...
