the alarm and the timer are the same function
you can't set the timer independently from the alarm: when you use the crown to rotate the inner dial, the triangle moves and the timer numbers move too since both are on this inner dial. Then it is a matter on how you set the alarm: either at a fixed time, using the triangle or relative to the current time, using the countdown numbers relative to the hour hand.

The Timer, one of the first JLC in some time that made me look harder, and read on.
I do like it, visually. And the alarm and countdown combination is really very practical. Neither are something most of us think much about when we think about mechanical watches.
Granted, they are nice, I will give JLC that much. But don't you think its time for them to introduce
something new and exciting instead of reissues, or tributes to former watches. Surely someone at JLC can come up with a fresh, new idea and put it into motion.
