Not a new function/complication, just a different way to display
It looks like all the functionality is identical to the regular Memovox. Using the stock photo as an example, 10:10 is slightly less than 8 hours away from a 6:00 alarm, so the red JL indicator attached to the hour hand is positioned as such. I think the point is that one can set an alarm for either 6:00 or 8 hours away. For those who don’t like to do addition in their head.....
Personally, when I saw the countdown timer tease, I had been hoping for something more ambitious—along the lines of the GO Panretrograph.

Totally true. Eve if the current Memovox is more refined, it is still too close to the former one. But it is some great news for those who don't own the former. As for the Timer,

The Timer, one of the first JLC in some time that made me look harder, and read on.
I do like it, visually. And the alarm and countdown combination is really very practical. Neither are something most of us think much about when we think about mechanical watches.
Granted, they are nice, I will give JLC that much. But don't you think its time for them to introduce
something new and exciting instead of reissues, or tributes to former watches. Surely someone at JLC can come up with a fresh, new idea and put it into motion.
