Independents

Non issue

Philippe Dufour is still kicking. So are many others.... and the list goes on. They are there, and they have been for a decade or more now... And when they are gone... I would bet (and I have, by buying their work) that they will set up service to follow them... this is their life's work... they will not let it simply disappear... get your indie!!! There is NOTHING like an independent watch--even at the 'entry' level, such as Habring... (although Habring is not entry level to many!) they are the finest watches in the world. So say I anyway. And even when they are entry level... their spirit and connection to the watchmaker makes them stand apart from all brands. In my collecting 'career', the Independents have meant, by far, the most to me. Would you worry about a great work of art after the painter is gone? If it fades, tears, is damaged? No. Yet people buy paintings that can never be repaired by the long-gone artists... my POV, anyway.   This message has been edited by Mostel on 2013-02-03 13:21:30
