Independents

Interesting debate...

I often think about the servicing of watches and what the future will hold... but then think do I love the piece enough to warrant any future problems.... normally the answer is yes so I just save up and buy the piece.

With advancements in the technology and materials, I am sure some of the cutting edge stuff we see today will be old hand in 30 years time and probably replaced by something else not even thought up yet.  I guess when people were making watches hundreds of years ago it was also on the minds of the purchasers, but the majority of them are being serviced today... it is just a matter of finding a talented watchmaker.

If you want something that anyone else can just walk into a boutique and buy then look towards the major brands and you will (probably) not have a problem in 20+ years time  If you want something that makes your smile reach from ear to ear every time you touch or put on that piece then look towards the independents.

Just my thoughts... smile

Cheers
