Independents

Hmmm....

Well, I've been on record before in these forums as saying that I do not like the direction that haute horologie has been taking in the last several years, with complications being added for their own sake, ungainly, even freakish design, and pompous names like "Time Machine #1" or the like. I know a lot of people like these gadgets, but it makes me sad for the days of the clean, classical elegance of watches like the Lange 1 or the FPJ Octa, watches that really stunned you when you first saw them because of the simple elegance.

Now, I probably wouldn't buy this watch, but I want to say that, of the "freakish" watches I've seen, this one has, at least, quite a sense of humor. The watch was obviously inspired by the dashboard of a 70s-era car, with a "speedometer" on top and a "radio" on the bottom, the day-glo green indicators and the brush-metal finish. I give Urwerk props for that for sure. I actually like this watch, even though I'm no fan of the "genre".
