You were definitely a trendsetter...

I was the same way. When I first saw the Nautilus watch as a teenager, I thought, "what a strange watch, it's got ears." And then one day, I tried one on, already biased that I wouldn't like it, and then I realized I liked it - it was a weird looking thing on its own, but on my wrist it actually looked quite good. I liked it so much I shortly acquired one. And I had previously had my mind set on an annual calendar version.
It's important to march to the beat of your own drum. There is a watch I regret not buying. The Lange 1815 40mm white gold. 233.026. What a nice simple watch. Should've gotten one!
There are a lot of people who are constantly asking, "what should I buy?" And "what would you get?" And they're often asking strangers they don't know on an internet platform. I realize they are spending a lot of money and that they just want to make sure what they're doing isn't a huge mistake. But still... Sometimes I want to say, "this is such a personal choice, one that you have to make yourself; and definitely ask someone who knows you better than a crowd on the internet who haven't even met you if you need a second opinion." But some people want to be shepherded. They don't feel confident nor safe to make a decision on their own. Maybe they're too humble, they realize they don't know enough so they're trying to do some additional research and they're crowdsourcing that research? Who knows.
