one thing i would never do is to pay above retail price for a watch... ok, there was an exception when i bought the vintage Omega Bullhead about a year ago... hehehe

i must admit though that given the current state of the market, i have bought a few pieces where i was not given "enough" time to consider, the most recent being the Cartier Tank Chinois. I like the watch, but have never bothered to try enquiring, as i had the impression that the watch could only be acquired via Cartier boutiques and i do not have a long purchase history with them. when my watch AD called me to say that they have one for me to consider, i was told it was the only piece they had and that i only have that day to think about it. sigh... gone were the days when i bought the Rolex 116520 when i had both the black and the white versions presented to me and i could buy both if i wanted.
given a choice, i would like to time my purchases with special occasions and milestones, but the situation now, at least for me, is such that "the watch chooses me, rather than the other way round". i still try to be selective in my purchases and most recently, i had resisted acquiring the Laurent Ferrier Square Micro Rotor, as the variants presented to me so far do not really speak to me. i guess in this case, not giving in to the "impulse" to buy has paid off, as my AD called me recently to say that they have the particular piece that i wanted. hope to post the watch here soon.
