This used to be a nice slow hobby but the hype culture of consumption and big marketing budgets of luxury groups has put the pedal to the metal turning the cadence up to something more like fashion. I try to remind myself it's a marathon, not a sprint, and to ignore the hype / hysteria and noise of it all.
When I bought my last car, I did it hoping it would be the beginning of a journey, and that it was my mission to do as many events and put as many miles on it as I could instead of working all the the time only to let it sit in the garage while I browsed the next hot new car on my phone in an airport lounge. 7 years later still have the same car, love it, not put enough miles on it but still it changed the way I think of cars and changed the hobby for me. Much less car media, more car events.
I'm not quite there with watches but I'm trying.... though I've been looking at clocks too in fact 🤣
