Horological Meandering

While I understand your frustration, your conclusions are wrong ...

Even if Mr. Journe is leading a small enterprise, compared with the big players of the watch industry, he is nevertheless not a one-person-company, making every single watch from scratch. Otherwise, it would be exceptionally difficult to get any of his watches, since the production numbers would be so low. Thus it is purely logical that Mr. Journe engages a logistical system of various layers offering the after sales service. This leads from the dealer's own watchmaker, who is trained and authorized to execute a certain variety of repair and maintenance works. And those watches that are sent back to the manufacturer, normally are taken care for by a specialized after sales service watchmaker. To demand that Mr. Journe himself should look after your watch could cause even massive delays, since the watchmaker on duty could be finished earlier.

A drawn crown (normally together with the stem) is annoying, but not an exotic damage. In fact, this kind of "damage" is even programmed by the movement designers, since it prevents massive damage to the wheelwork inside. I do not know the warranty conditions offered by Journe, but normally, three years are not covered by the international warranty, which mostly is balid only for two years. Therefore, it is not wrong to charge for the repair.

Anyway, Mr. Bosse is hardly the right person to ask for assistance in your specific case. While all PuristSPro moderators are ready and willing to offer assistance whenever possible, it is the moderator of the Journe forum who is the first person to contact with your problems, since he has the direct contacts with the company.

With best regards,
Marcus
