I agree with your sentiment about vintage Movado giving vintage Patek (or, in my opinion, Rolex) vibes. I think Movado is especially interesting given what the brand has become. Growing up, I have very distinct memories of the ubiquitous Museum watch. Appreciating this very different side of Movado is a fun little part of this hobby.

It’s so beautiful. The breguet numerals … the date / month windows … the bracelet….the dial color.
If only Movado could have avoided that partially occluded 7!

It is a rather diminutive 34.5 mm.
I think if it was 36 mm or 37 mm, it would be more popular. I find the lugs give it a significant amount of presence though.

The case is strong, but obviously polished. But hey, it is a gold watch from the 40s, what can you expect? But the dial is pretty darn immaculate, which is really the selling point for me. Appreciate you taking the time to comment.

my primary source of information are several Instagram accounts and Youtube channels along with some threads and past sales listings on different online forums. But you are right - information about vintage Movados is scarce. They must be one of the best ...

They sell their own watches, but they also post vintage/modern finds and give a little write up. Helps to contextualize watches offered by some dealers.

In the 40's and 50's when import tarifs on gold watch were very high, lots of brands were having the movement sent to france and casing were made in france. They are rare, and not much talked about... Rolex french case ...
