Horological Meandering

Recommend a Low-Budget Watch for an Imposter Polymath

I graduated from law school decades ago then began what I euphemistically call a "non-linear" legal career. In recent times I have attempted to move my in-house practice in the direction of data privacy and protection. As a kind of therapy - because I was not getting the kind of job opportunities I aspire to - I began a lengthy and painful (I am not a natural mathematician, and I did not know how to code) journey to obtain a master's degree in computer science. In less than a month that journey will come to an end and I will have a master's degree in computer science as I am finally graduating. That and $5 will get me a decent (brewed) coffee at Starbucks.

Since I am not the kind of person to get a new tattoo (I have none) to memorialize a major life event, and since I am not rich like all the grail-owners here, I thought I would ask for a recommendation as to what watch would be a fine self-gift on my graduation for under $5,000 (new or used). Let me give you some background to help you choose:

- I am not a diver (I can swim but not well and am not a fan of the water) so no divers or yacht themed
- I have never been in the military thus no Airborne cred and am not a radiologist or neurosurgeon so no skulls
- I have not billed time by the hour for 15 years so a chrono function has very little value (and clutters up a dial)
- I never travel, however
- I do have a rotor and fixed wing private pilot certificate (although I have not flown in a while) so a GMT function does make sense and is desirable
- finally I live in Phoenix so I dress very casually

I recently saw this B&R specialty that resembles an altimeter and thought it was interesting.

Given the above (this sounds like a GPT prompt doesn't it!), any suggestions for new or used watches that would fit a stale pilot who just got a computer science degree in order to (fingers crossed) help him find a dream privacy counsel job?
