Patrick, this is not about being right or wrong...
it is much more about the stakes which are 'at stake'. The Swiss watch industry has once nearly extinguished itself with arrogance. As Elmar Mock, one of the fathers of the original Swatch (and thus one of the fathers of the revival pf the industry states, the trade is just about to fall into the same trap again.
Given the enormous $ involved here, there are a lot of free riders who - by one means or another - try to capitalise on the current turmoil situation. There is little indication that smart watches are there to stay, even if (name the brand) sales numbers look promising for the time being.
But a lot of firm try to make money out of this insecurity. The same btw is happening in the smart phone/tablet sectors, where a lot of doubtful numbers are spread and repeated without much thinking. A closer look and one is surprised that predictions based on named analyses are being taken seriously.
If representatives of a sector which is in danger but has little to gain issues words of warning such as the FHS are concerned I have little reason to doubt them.
Cheers,
Magnus
