Horological Meandering

It's not a watch, it's a platform....

Time will tell if the iWatch is a success..but keep in mind that like the iPhone has become, the product is intended to be much more than its primary function.  I'm sure Apple has lofty ideas of how the watch can transform your life be in through fitness, or time scheduling, or who knows what...  Actually, that last one is the point.  They hope that developers can invent new purposes for the watch.

When the iPhone first came out, who thought it could be a reliable substitute for an GPS in your car?  Or would actually allow you to know a song playing in a restaurant simply by opening an app?

The key will be whether NEW functions can be discovered...if all the watch does is allow another method for accessing the apps on your phone then in my mind, it will fail.

(Disclaimer:  I own an iWatch and give it a 3/10 so far in terms of usefulness to me so far.  I give my iPhone 6+ a 10/10 score....   But I'm willing to wait to see what apps can be developed in the next year.  I realize I'm an early-adopter).
