I’m curious if you like the FP Journe asymmetrical layouts with the negative spaces?
I find some degree of parallel between them and Lange 1 layout, although the Lange doesn’t have all that empty space. I thought Lange was odd in the beginning (like I did a 5712), but then later appreciated the asymmetry.

But the Lange 1 has always been special in my eyes... I'd pair it with a suede strap and wear it every day

If it would‘ve been Grand Lange 1 Moonphase or Lange 1 PC vs Vacheron Traditionelle complete calendar, the Lange 1 would‘ve won.
I'd go with simplicity & the VC
The Lange looks quite a lot bigger, so think VC a better fit. Though having to choose would be a very nice problem to have Cheers JML
Honestly, I couldn’t choose between these two.
But if you threatened to take one, then I’d have to say leave me the platinum Lange because it strikes me as more unique in its design.
Lange 1 gets my vote.
It just grows on you. And it's markedly different from other iconic pieces in the market.
Love ‘em both. The VC Traditionnelle 38mm is perhaps the best Calatrava. And the Lange 1 is an amazing combination of engineering, craftsmanship and design.
My choice would depend on my mood on any particular day. The only other factor that would influence my choice is size. So instead of the regular Lange 1, I would choose the Little Lange 1 moonphase with blue aventurine dial.

I would go with the Lange, easily. VC is a current watch and I don't like when they then try to look vintage.
The Lange 1 for me. So iconic and a terrific and unique design.
Although I would prefer white gold with lumed hands for better contrast.

I'd probably go with the Lange for the iconic design. Easy choice for the Lange if you made it a moonphase.

Lange 1 is legend too but just the empty space on date window irks me.
