I’ve learned to let serendipity take care of it..
It takes awhile but is quite gratifying; sometimes even more gratifying than the acquisition.
First step is to id which ones to let go.. and that takes long for me. Mind vs heart thing and all that. It takes years for me. Then the opportunity usually follows.
I also take note of low hanging fruit situations. If I see an opportunity to sell requiring almost no effort, I take it as a sign. But you need to do the first step so that your mind is conditioned to spot opportunities.
In your case, I’d probably just buy the Cellini first and worry about selling other pieces later not unless your dealer gives you an opportunity for a good trade.

😉 Typically if it’s not getting worn, it goes to a new home. A few months ago I found myself with way too many watches. More recently I did a 3 for 1 swap, and it’s feels… Very liberating!
I do the same with watches I don't wear anymore, or which are required by the seller of the watch I want, for a trade.
Most of the time, I try to sell my watches to friends. It is much less painful to know that they are in a good home.
I‘ve sold several pieces, especially in the last few years. Never for financial reasons, but always because of lost love and the feeling that i had too many watches.
Actually, once I had decided to sell one, it was never really difficult to let go. But I never made a decision fast, I’ve always thought about selling a certain watch for 2-3 months before making a decision. As I‘m not a collector of fast selling watches ...
Very very difficult decision, especially so when your wife (of ex because of that, lol) knows you are taking a big loss…
However, the disaster and disappointment will soon be overcome by the joy of your incoming one. Having said that, I try not to trade and tell myself if I cannot afford it with ease, don’t buy another watch. Good luck 🍀

I personally like a time-only Vacheron Constantin and a time-only A. Lange & Soehne more than this model. They're similarly priced too, but lack the moon phase so it isn't exactly a fair comparison. I don't think they come with deployment buckles neither,...

Be sure to triple check that Rolex. It’s thicker than even the Lange in my experience. Wouldn’t work with fitted shirts nor French cuffs.

good point about watches not inding the way to the wrist...true that market realities cannot be controlled. In a way is good if one can sell through reputable buyers that are also AD.

By all means necessary. It’s easy to get creative with promotional APRs and trade ins. They are great tools. Ask yourself this: if Rolex discontinued that watch tomorrow would be able to get over it??
