but how clean do we make the cut. Maybe we make it deep and concentrate on the daily wearer first. Then after a period of time and reflection go for that grail. The longer I have been in this hobby the more my tastes have changed and the more my collection has evolved. I think my one lesson is that my taste will probably never settle and collecting will be a constant battle....
I kind of like the two watch approach- the duality of it all. The watch for living and the watch for appreciation. The watch I get buried with and the watch that goes with my family (grail to the family, beater and life watch in the coffin). The family watch worn to all my special occassions and thus represents all those memories (rather than currently have a watch for each memory!).
Its funny that we share nearly the same lists for both daily wearers and grails.
Which opens another door that I had thought long closed (or had at least tried to close). I focused on collecting one brand because otherwise I found myself grabbing all around me. Now I'm opening myself up to one watch (maybe two) I realise how many options there are on the market and its frightening. Even with my strict requirements all the top teir brand offer a solution, all with great history, in-house movements and unique style. Its at this stage that the swift cut would seem most appropriate i.e. choose one and be done with it....
thanks for all your great comments folks.
