If I really needed a GMT, I'd look for one that's nice to use like a UN for example or a straightforward Reverso Duo (which unfortunately doesn't have a rubber or bracelet option).
But if it's just a simple home time affair and taking into account your criteria, the GMT2 is hard to beat really. Solid yet comfy feel on the wrist. Oyster bracelet. Nice not so thick case. Quite legible. Very flexible and will go well with whatever you're wearing. And with this black on black, very understated. Frankly, I don't like GMTs and if I had to go with one, this would be it over a Batman or a Pepsi.
Sure it'll cost you an arm as you said, but you most certainly won't lose it .. you might even gain a leg :p
