Dear Cazalea, I agree with you,

 

I do believe everyone factors in before deciding to pull the trigger many different thoughts and at least imho you listed some of them
How many times even discussing on watches from some established brands we read something like “but in this range of price you may also consider X, Y and Z which btw could offer also these pluses vs the watch you’re asking an advice...”?
This was my concern, which I think probably due to my rusty English could be misinterpreted, but if I understood correctly your post it seems you share it with me
And if “buy the seller before buying the watch” is a must on vintage, I believe that to a reasonable extent a similar reasoning could be applied also to brands, putting aside all the marketing tricks (to be polite)
I will never buy a watch I don’t like only for the heritage of the brand is written on its dial, but I think also that if I have the opportunity to choose I definitely prefer to put my money on something able to reassure me on many levels, rather than not
Really only my very humble 2 cents, after some good glasses of red wine
To close everyone is more than free to do what suits him/her better, and I will be the last to judge any kind of decision or in some case even the first to admire the courage...
I hope to have clarified a bit what I wrote before

Here's the new MING 19.01 housing a Schwarz-Etienne movement with skeletonized bridges & barrels

The MING 19.01 timepiece features a 39mm titanium case with a sapphire dial with radial gradient from deep blue opaque at the center to transparent at the outer edges. Movement used is a Schwartz-Etienne with a power reserve of 100 hours with skeletonized...

but for a vintage JLC Memovox is next on the list. This Ming doesn't have the odd orientation of Arabic numbers, & looks so much better for it

I am looking forward to what the final opinion will be, but I am afraid I would prefer a Moser no matter what the outcome will be.

Congrats Ming, this is really an achievement to create a design that is new, but not disconcerting. Really nailed the details. Bravo, Brandon

Wasn’t fussed on the 17.01 (too small for me), but this I find to be confused and at odds with itself.

I don’t like the: lugs radial gradient lack of numerals/indices lack of seconds hand lack of strap in-fill between lugs price and the least said about the lumed circle nonsense, the better! I do like the: movement long PR hands choice of strap manufacture...

Saw some videos on Instagram and looked very interesting. A VERY impressive, boundary pushing 2nd offering from a brand that did not exist 12 months ago... congratulations Mr. Ming!

Part of the spending is on "security" of resale, service, spares, dealer network, celebrity connection, etc.

I do not see the brand as an Independent like Moser, Urwerk or MB&F to name a few. Ming is a bussinessman/photographer/designer, nothing wrong with that since he does everything very good, what he does, he is a professional, but to call the brand an Indep...
