It is simply because Seiko has a very low brand esteem to the buyer at this point, that spending time and observation of what goes into Grand Seiko spring drive especially, and also the manual and auto time only pieces are very important.
I feel it is relevant to your question...because we will have to be immersed for a week, at least, in Japanese culture to "feel" what is relevant to the Japanese watchmakr as he sits in his chair, to create a watch.
The soon to happen, rise of Japan into the High Horology market is unavoidable...they have the product, they have the quality, they have the recognition at the high end of a few people...now..it takes a marketing campaign in 2011.
I personally went to purchase the SBGC004 Chrono in gold, because I feel it is about to discontinue soon. It is an extravagant piece of machine. At a stunning price, it takes testicles to buy it...like the Eichi you chose...
For Swiss made..the HM4 is for me the one.
