Piaget: I would try to expand the brand without losing sight of its core values

The main USP of Piaget is their superthin manufacture calibres. I would try and build on that by developing some complications which would have to be the thinnest compared to their competition. A perpetual, with or without EOT, comes to mind but I would also love to see a two register chronograph wi

Patek Philippe: I'm an average man...

With average taste. My collection includes Blancpain Flyback, GO Senator Navigator, Nomos Tangomat, Omega Co-Axial DeVille and sundry vintages such as an Universal Polerouter. I have these watch because I like them, they are my taste, they are interesting. There are also watches I do not like, watch

Patek Philippe: Taste is subjective³ anyway...

It always irritates the hell out of me when a journalist proposes one is more beautiful than the other, be it watches, cars, etc. I'll be the judge of that, thank you very much.

Horological Meandering: I'd have a Jean-Claude Killy in a flash

But as you say, there's a difference between a watch becoming associated with someone or a marketing department selecting the right celeb they'll think will maximise their exposure and sales in return for a fat contract. Newman, McQueen, Killy and there may be some more I have nothing against.

Horological Meandering: I wasn't around in the 1890's

All I know now is that it is not done for royalty to show ostentation like that these days. Leave that to the likes of Vlad Putin. To me a Tiger Woods, Sachin Tendulkar or whatever watch is not an enhancement of desirability whatever the celeb or the watch. I simply dislike the principle.

Horological Meandering: I really dislike the celebrity cult these days...

And endorsements are a by product of that. What I dislike even more are celebrity limited editions. But I might be in a minority here.

A. Lange & Söhne: I agree with your sentiments

Although I feel a little duplicitous. On the one hand discontinuation may be "good" news for owners, guaranteeing no dilution of rarity. On the other hand I'm very sad that a classic such as this needs to be changed, "enhanced". This watch deserved to grow old gracefully as it is, with a production

A. Lange & Söhne: Respectfully disagree...

Perfection need not, cannot be improved upon.

Blancpain: With all the attention these days directed at the Fifty Fathoms and derivatives

Is the Léman, formerly 2100, collection really being phased out? I for one would be very sad to see this happen. To me it is the very essence of the " new " Blancpain whereas the Fifty Fathoms refers back to the brand's heyday during the fifties.
