For the more special/rare handcraft pieces, I also enjoy the process of looking for them, waiting for the right moment, etc., and then (sometimes) being lucky enough to get selected... If not, I'll survive. I find this an important part of the fun in watch collecting. Otherwise -- for a rare handcraft like for any other watch -- there's always the secondary market (though with a very handsome premium...), but I hope I'll never have to resort to that ;-) OK, for Boccadasse I admit I would have made "any" offer to the lucky recipient(s) if I couldn't get one from Patek, but I feel that for other special pieces, turning to a grey dealer will take away much of the fun Cheers.
