For example:

Blunt tips of hands, especially on “precision” watches like chronographs. ( I make an exception for my 15202 as a stylistic quirk!).

Short hands which don’t reach the relevant markers.

Numerals for the even numbers only.

Dauphine hands with a circular element at the pinion.  It just looks wrong.  Vacheron know how to do dauphine hands properly!

Watch Turn-Offs/Pet Peeves

A couple of small details that make me shy away from a watch, the crown not being at the 3 o'clock position, and round watches being "flat" between the lugs, similar to some Seikos. Small details I agree, but turn-offs to me. What are your particular turn...

Turn-offs and my turn-ons

Watches which look not like watches. Known by the name time machines. Odd pistons which is a miniature of a supercar engine. Cost sometimes crazy amounts of money. Why should i pay for a thing that is more an advertorial? The baddest silly peace, Breitlin...

Dateless black dials... YMMV 😊 .

Black dials

I also refuse black dials. My reason, i had to much watches with it. To easy for the industrie to produce.

Too short hands!

Such a basic design mistake, and still one sees that happen.

What about hands that are too long

 By: Thomas_3 : July 9th, 2021-23:48
and hang out over the minute track??

That is a much rarer occurrence in my experience, I have rarely come across watches with a genuinely too long minute hand.

Although Tudor Black Bay 58, while a nice watch, is borderline in this respect: However, looking closely, I think the issue has more to do with the relative placement of the lume dots and the way the minute hand extends far beyond those (as well as to a l...

Wow!

A good one, pal! Lol

How much time do you have?

: ) Seriously, most are related to legibility and type/kerning issues.

Silvered hands against a black dial

You know what I mean: the watches that make you flick your wrist so that the hour and minute hand catch the light and you can then tell the time.

Polished lugs on Daytona (116520). Lol

Couldn't wait to let it go because of it... I know it's gotta be just me because everybody seems to love Daytonas.. ...

I have found that some details that turned me off …

…were actually fine in another timepiece. I see the word “automatic” on Panerai dials and I hate it. I prefer the AP 15400 over the other RO iterations and yet the word “automatic” appears on the AP15400. Similarly, most date windows leave me cold, but wh...

2. Very low legibility (silver hands on silver dial, silver hands on black dial). Without lume of course 3. Skeleton dial on common / unimpressive movement 4. Short hands 5. Sport watch that claim 100 mtr WR or above, without screw down crown 6. Over hype...

Very interesting topic, Thomas!

Here are my very personal no-go’s (where I - please! - don't want to hurt or offend anyone): * lovelessly produced movements without precision work in the high price (haute horlogerie) segment * only on some sides polished hands * movements that are too s...

Date wheel colour that does not match the dial: such a basic design error. "Automatic" on the dial and all other unnecessary words. There is always the case back for words if the wearer forgets! Screw down-crown where WR less than 5 bar. Screw-down crown ...
