When the music stops (or slows down), we see huge volumes of these assumed “rare” watches appear.
As informed collectors, we must be careful to not fall for this.

I don't get it. You're comparing a limited edition GP to a whole line in the Rolex catalog and then inferring hype based on number of listings?
Again, I'm not saying the Daytona doesn't have more notoriety, I just don't understand how this comparison quantifies that.
