For some reason, whenever I say anything about Rolex, the “other side” starts talking about resale value. 😄 (maybe this is exactly what’s wrong with watch collecting today 🤔).
So let’s be clear. I said nothing about resale value in my original post nor in subsequent comments.
Rarity alone means nothing. I agree. It means nothing until more folks discover the said watch. And then it means a lot. This has happened numerous times with various other models from various other brands.
For me, resale value is secondary. I collect for reasons for the pure love of the watch and respect for the brand.
I also generally buy preowned for most brands. So devaluation is already factored into the price.
When it comes to quality, heritage and beauty, the GP brand and the Laureato-Olipico 8017 are right up there IMHO.
And that was the purpose of my post.
