I completely agree with you, make watches that people would want to buy.
You have laureato, truly iconic. But the current models feel dated. Refine the design, improve the finishing - the bracelet especially needs a lot of work. I am talking about refinements, not radical change. Then you will have a winner. Yes, the secondary market matters but not so much. As Lange has proven beyond a reasonable doubt ...
