For me personally a luxury watch has to be new 😅
My approach to collecting watches is driven by personal enjoyment rather than investment potential. I tend to purchase timepieces that I am genuinely fond of, not with the intention of reselling them. There's something genuinely satisfying about purchasing a watch in-store, particularly from an Authorized Dealer I've built a connection with.
When a watch is listed on the secondary market at a price much lower than its MSRP, it typically signifies its value as a pre-owned piece. From my own experiences, even those that include auctions, I've come to understand that no matter how well a watch is maintained, it won't retain the exact feel of a brand new one.
However, I recently sold a few watches that were in excellent condition, almost indistinguishable from new. These pieces could indeed be perceived as a great purchase for the right buyer!
