The 1986 Margaux was excellent, but not sublime. I think the thing that separates spectacular vintages of Margaux are the depth of secondary and tertiary notes, spine and power like the '96 or 2000. Still it was a nice consolation after a tough loss.

I’ve never actually had the ‘82 Lafite. The reviews of ‘82 Lafite were great but not spectacular like the ‘82 Mouton and some other blockbuster vintages of Lafite, but nothing beats actual experience and tasting it. I keep extensive tasting notes for spec...

the finest Western European teams and Brazil there is another level of finesse. If they can make it past the group stage they might surprise a team like Iceland some years ago. Here's hoping
